Jamie Fox Music Special VS American Idol & Black Folks who AiIN'T GOT NO TiVO

As Many of us "folk" already know there has been a mass email sweeping the country. I have received it twice. Once at work and once from a family member in a different part of the country. Then I heard talk about it on my most favorite Tom Joyner Morning Show on KISS FM 105.3 you know the one. In case not :

Please take the time to forward the below message to everyone in your
address book. NBC is not doing any marketing & publicity on Jamie's
Music Special on NBC because he stood his ground and wouldn't have any
white guest as they requested. To make it even worse he had two
controversial guest stars, that do not fit the "NBC profile" on his
show. Tune in to find out who they are. They are purposely putting his
show up against the second week of American Idol in hopes that it will
fail. This will give them the excuse to never give another black person
a music special because "it doesn't work". Let's show them that it does
work, and that we support each other. Tivo Idol, and watch Jamie. I
saw the taping, it is a good show.

Jamie Foxx making history on NBC. This is the first time NBC has ever
aired an entire young urban African American cast on a music special.
We need to show support. This was not an easy sell for Jamie and he
stood his ground to make it happen the way he saw fit.

People are getting quite riled up over this. I know I always thought of NBC as the most totally white network, not caring if a negro ever turned their head in their direction. With the WB of course being second runner up. Now I ain't got no Tivo. For what? Ain't got no cable, and I only watch the American Idol Auditions, after that it's just another wanna be a star program that I catch from time to time like the rest of the reality shows. I'm going to try and watch both, with more of the Jamie Foxx special. I do actually think his show will have more depth to it. But what do you think is gonna happen from all this? You know how the black American motto goes: "Don't start, won't be none!" And you know black folk are forever "wishin' you would!.." So I'm just gonna sit back and wait to see how this comes to play out.
